Will You ARISE & Help Me?
Dear Valued Subscriber,
Another month has
come and gone (where does the time go?) and I thought it
was about time to put together another issue for you.
If you are a new
ARISE! subscriber I want to invite you to subscribe (free, of
course) to both my
1 Minute and 10
Minute Mentor Message podcasts , and,
my brand
new blog. Both have been projects of passion, especially
the podcasts, which consumed about 3 months of not only my time,
but that of my great friend and pod pardner, Larry Thompson.
As a result of this
experience I am now devoting some of my time to podcast
consulting, and I encourage anyone who is serious about putting
out a high quality podcast - before their competition does (too
many benefits to list here) - to
visit a special page
I have set up for that purpose and contact me from there.
I'm heading to my
hometown of Windsor tomorrow to visit with my mom, eldest daughter
and fabulous grandboys, my sisters and will attend a performance
by an artist named
Daniel Victor, who currently has a Top 3 record and hit
video in this country. Daniel used to hang around the studio his
dad owned and that I worked in a decade ago and his story is
really something special. He will be a guest on my podcast and
you'll get to hear all about it in a few weeks. Speaking of
which, I have some wonderful guests lined up and just finished up
with a 5 part series where I interviewed business icon
Jim Rohn, so again, please feel free to
check it out.
The author of this
issue's article, Consider Your R&R, is Sandy Karn. I love
her simple, short writing style and awesome practical advice.
Benefit from her wisdom!
I best get to
packing now and leave you to hopefully enjoy this issue. As
always, I welcome your feedback. Just hit Reply and tell me what
you think of, and how I can improve, ARISE!
Assuming you enjoy
this publication can I ask you to do me a small, but at the same
time, huge favor?
Would you choose 3 people from your Address Book right now and
send them this issue or the main page link to ARISE!:
http://www.arise.themirrorezine.com - and suggest they
subscribe. Thank you, I'd really appreciate that!
Now, please kick back and enjoy this issue of ARISE!
As always, my
greatest wishes for your complete success,

Rick Beneteau

Consider Your R
& R
by Sandy Karn
We all need to consider our R & R, not our rest and relaxation, but our
resilience and resentments.
Resilience is the ability to bounce back. We all experience negative events in
our lives. How we respond to these events varies widely from person to person.
Some seem to have a
natural ability to bounce back, put the negative elements behind them and get on
with their lives. Others seem to stay mired in negativity for long periods of
time, sometimes their entire lives.
There are a number of factors that influence our resiliency and a number of
steps that have been demonstrated to be effective. Some of the ideas that I have
shared with you in other
messages are part of the answer. A major factor that has been demonstrated to
work against resiliency is our tendency to hang on to resentments.
Resentment is the state of feeling bitter, angry, or indignant as a result of an
actual or perceived grievance. Most of us have experienced resentment from time
to time. Some of us tend to hold on to these resentments more than others. We
feel that we have a right to be resentful because of what happened to us.
You may well be able to justify your resentment, however by doing so you are
turning control of your emotional life over to others. In effect, you are saying
that you will not change your thoughts and feelings until some other person
changes. This is not very likely to happen, so you are essentially sentencing
yourself to an extended period of turmoil and misery.
This does not mean you need to passively accept everything that happens to you.
By all means state your position and ask for what you feel is right. However,
once the incident is over, let it go. Hanging on to it is only hurting you.
Your goal:
To increase your natural resiliency by learning to let go of resentments.
The result:
You will be much healthier emotionally as you recover more quickly from the
negative events and experiences that will inevitably occur in your life.
Your assignment:
If you are currently holding any resentment toward other people, groups, or
organizations, take time to identify the source of that resentment. How has
holding that resentment affected your life? Are you ready to let go of the
resentment in order to regain greater control of your own life?
Wishing You the Very Best!

Can
I Get ARISE Outa You?
The Pope, a Bear and the
Democrat
this one's a little grissly but thanks to my
great friend, and obvious Republican,
Tom
Heatherington:-)
The Pope took a couple of days off to visit the mountains of Alaska
for some sight-seeing. He was cruising along the campground in the
Popemobile when there was a frantic commotion just at the edge of
the woods. A helpless Democrat, wearing sandals, shorts, a "Bush
Lied" T-shirt and a tree hugger hat, was screaming while struggling
frantically, thrashing around trying to free himself from the grasp
of a 10-foot-tall grizzly.
As the Pope watched horrified, a group of Republican loggers came
racing up. One quickly fired a .44 magnum into the bear's chest. The
other two reached up and pulled the bleeding, semiconscious Democrat
from the bear's grasp. Then, using long clubs, the three loggers
finished off the bear and two of them threw it onto the bed of their
truck while the other tenderly placed the injured Democrat in the
back seat.
As they prepared to leave, the Pope summoned them to come over. "I
give you my blessing for your brave actions!" he told them. "I heard
there was a bitter hatred between Republican loggers and Democratic
environmental activists, but now I've seen with my own eyes that
this is not true."
As the Pope drove off, one of the loggers asked his buddies "Who was
that guy?" "That was the Pope", another replied, "he's in direct
contact with God and has access to all God's wisdom." "Well," the
logger said, "he may have access to all God's wisdom but he sure
doesn't know anything about bear hunting! By the way, is the bait
holding up, or do we need to go back to town and snatch another
one?"

Wisdom with Pictures
The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch and
swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was
the best conversation you've ever had.
It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but
it's also true that we don't know what we've been missing until it
arrives.
Giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they'll love
you back! Don't expect love in return; just wait for it to grow in
their heart but if it doesn't, be content it grew in yours. It takes
only a minute to get a crush on someone, an hour to like someone,
and a day to love someone, but it takes a lifetime to forget
someone.
Don't go for looks; they can deceive. Don't go for wealth; even that
fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile because it takes only
a smile to make a dark day seem bright. Find the one that makes your
heart smile.
May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to
make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, enough hope to
make you happy.
Always put yourself in others' shoes. If you feel that it hurts you,
it probably hurts the other person, too.
The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of
everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along
their way.
Happiness lies for those who cry, those who hurt, those who have
searched, and those who have tried, for only they can appreciate the
importance of people who have touched their lives.
When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was
smiling. Live your life so that when you die, you're the one who is
smiling and everyone around you is crying.

GIVING
BACK
You might already support these or similar organizations, but it's
the sad truth that we can never really do enough to help people,
especially children. Here is what I support and encourage you to
review:
The
Internet Toy Drive
Founded by Anne Marie Baugh and myself, and sponsored by Drew
Bledsoe (#11, 2001 Super Bowl Champion quarterback), we are official
corporate sponsors of the U.S. Marine's Toys for Tots program.
My
WorldVision Children
This is the special group of children from around the world that I
sponsor. WorldVision is a Christian organization that has been
around for decades and almost every penny donated goes directly to
these needy children and their families. Nothing beats receiving a
handwritten letter, or even an email now, from "your
child":-) You can even buy chickens or cows that get right to
these families in dire need!
St.
Jude Children's Hospital
My father was a lifelong musician and played piano in bands with
Danny Thomas (founder of St. Jude and father of Marlo Thomas) among
others during the depression, thirties and early World War II years.
Understandably, this world famous research hospital is close to my
heart:-)
Parenting
with Dignity P
If you are a parent, expecting to be one in the
future, or even believe you've done your parenting job, do yourself
a great favor and check out this fabulous resource! Drew Bledsoe,
his father and family members, my great friend Tom Heatherington and
many more have established an absolutely wonderful foundation
devoted to the betterment of children and families (Mac Bledsoe was
interviewed on ABC's 20/20 this year).
Will
You ARISE & Help Me?
I would greatly
appreciate it if you would take a few seconds to tell just a few of
your friends about ARISE. Simply Forward this URL to everyone
in your Address Book. All they need to do is enter their email
address below (it will NEVER be shared or given away).
Thank You!!
