Will You ARISE & Help Me?
Dear Valued Subscriber,
Yesterday, it was
a balmy 48 degrees. A refreshing BRRRRReak from the
cold! I, for one, am very much looking forward to spring and
summer.
I'd much rather be watching cabin cruisers, sailboats and the
occasional tallship pass by in the river below my building than
puzzle-like ice floes. We've had a couple of nasty snow storms and
wouldn't you know it, Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow last week.
Six more weeks of shivering in store I guess! Can
you tell that I'm a big fan of Canadian
winters?:-)
I couldn't be happier that
so many of you took advantage of my special offer to get John Harricharan's amazing Power Pause and
Intuition Report as well as my Success: A
Spiritual Matter last week. I've
already received some great emails and the feedback, when all is
read and done, I know will be fantastic:-)
The media's attention
quickly shifted from the tsunami disaster to the elections in Iraq
then on to last night's SuperBowl but that doesn't mean much more help isn't needed
in South East Asia. If you have been wondering where you can
direct a donation to help in this massive effort, here is a list of
legitimate worldwide organizations involved:

We lost a legend
last month. Johnny Carson, decades-long host of The Tonight Show,
passed away at age 79. Known for his brilliant monologues and many
marriages, this talented comedian single handedly launched the
careers of too-many-to-mention marquis comics, choosing to help
others achieve their dreams and goals every step of the way
throughout his stellar career. The world will miss him.
So long Johnny . . .
Linda Aspen Baxter and I have been
equally busy this past year and we decided to extend the submission
deadline for "The
Ultimate Teenager's Survival Guide" until April 30, 2005. Inquiries and
submissions (some great stories received and being developed with
the authors) are
growing but we still need more, so please,
if
you know of a school or a teacher or a community group/leader that is centered
around teenagers, I strongly encourage you to visit our site, and contact those persons to
help spread the word.
Please
send those people here. Thank you!
Since you heard his
name quite a few times last week, I decided to feature the great
wisdom of my mystical friend and mentor, John Harricharan, in your
ARISE article. If you haven't already, I highly
recommend you
visit John's website and subscribe to his newsletter. And do
check out his wonderful membership site,
Enterprising Spirits.
Now, please kick back
(and if you can't right now, just click on the Print This Page icon
at the top, scoop the pages from your printer and take it to bed
with you:-) and enjoy this issue of ARISE!
As always, my
greatest wishes for your complete success,

Rick Beneteau

One Little Glimpse of Eternity
by John Harricharan
It was many years ago. The boy was not more than
ten years old as he stood beside the man that early morning. They were both
standing on the shore of the Atlantic looking east toward the rising sun. The
chill morning air caused a slight shiver to run through the boy. The man,
seeming to know, without even looking, took off his jacket and draped it over
the small shoulders of his son. They walked up to the water's edge as the man
spoke: "You see that wide expanse of water? It is made of billions of gallons,
and each gallon is made of tens of thousands of drops."
The little boy seemed curious. "And what are the drops made of?" he asked.
With a smile, the man replied: "The drops are made of smaller and smaller drops,
and each in turn is made of bits and pieces of things that make the very world
we live in."
"What am I made of, Dad?" the boy asked after a short while. "Am I made of the
same stuff as the ocean?"
The father smiled as he replied: "Everything is made of everything else, and
everything is a part of other things. As you stand here this morning, you are a
part of this land, this shore, this ocean. Look at that tree, the sky. They are
parts of the very me and the eternal I. There is a force that keeps us together.
Some call that force God, others, Allah, Jehovah, or Jove. There are a thousand
names for this force, but it doesn't matter what it's called. It just is. As you
grow older and wiser, you will find the stirring of this mighty force within
you. You will know that it's always there, and that you're safe and happy within
it."
The boy, with a puzzled expression, looked at his father and asked: "How can
this force, this God, be within me and at the same time be in everything else I
see?"
"Because," the man replied, "God is everything and everyone. God is in you and
in me, in those gulls you see over there, in the sand under our feet and the
lilies of the field. God is everywhere and everything, and there cannot be two
of everything. God is a part of you just like the drop of water is a part of
this ocean. Remember this well and you will grow up to have a sense of peace,
joy and understanding."
Decades have passed since I stood on that shore with my father. I have since
traveled to many countries, lived in various cultures, and experienced deep
sorrow and great joy. I have seen the best and the worst of my fellow human
beings, Yet, through it all, I could hear the voice of my father telling me:
"God is everywhere and everything, and there cannot be two everything."
As a young boy, I grew up in a small village of Hindus, Christians and Moslems.
I learned at a very early age that all people are shipmates on the common voyage
of life and that one cannot sink one's shipmates without sinking oneself. As I
studied the Vedic writings and compared them with the words of the Hebrew
prophets and the teachings of the New Testament Apostles, I found that the
common thread that ran through everything was love. The greatest commandment
ever given was "Love your God and love one another" - all others are simply
variations on that theme.

Can
I Get ARISE Outa You?
A Day Off
The boss had an urgent issue at work so he called his employee at
home on his day off.
The phone was answered by a small whispering voice.
"Is your daddy home?" he asked.
"Yes," whispered the small voice. "May I talk with him?" The child
whispered, "No."
Surprised, and wanting to talk with an adult, the boss asked, "Is
your Mommy there?"
"Yes."
"May I talk with her?"
Again the small voice whispered, "No."
Hoping there was somebody with whom he could leave a message, the
boss asked, "Is anybody else there?"
"Yes," whispered the child, "a policeman."
Wondering what a cop would be doing at his employee's home, the boss
asked,
"May I speak with the policeman?"
"No, he's busy", whispered the child.
"Busy doing what?"
"Talking to Daddy and Mommy and the Fireman," came the whispered
answer.
Growing concerned and even worried as he heard what sounded like a
Helicopter through the ear piece on the phone the boss asked, "What
is that noise?"
"A hello-copper" answered the whispering voice.
"What is going on there?" asked the boss, now truly alarmed.
In an awed whispering voice the child answered, "The search team
just landed the hello-copper."
Alarmed, concerned, and even more then just a little frustrated the
boss asked, "What are they searching for?"
Still whispering, the young voice replied along with a muffled
giggle:
"ME."

Poignant
Ponderings
You already know it takes many more muscles to frown than to smile.
But do you know it takes much less effort to hand a homeless person
a few dollars than to clench your fist and hold on to those few
bucks?

GIVING
BACK
You might already support these or similar organizations, but it's
the sad truth that we can never really do enough to help people,
especially children. Here is what I support and encourage you to
review:
The
Internet Toy Drive
Founded by Anne Marie Baugh and myself, and sponsored by Drew
Bledsoe (#11, 2001 Super Bowl Champion quarterback), we are official
corporate sponsors of the U.S. Marine's Toys for Tots program.
My
WorldVision Children
This is the special group of children from around the world that I
sponsor. WorldVision is a Christian organization that has been
around for decades and almost every penny donated goes directly to
these needy children and their families. Nothing beats receiving a
handwritten letter, or even an email now, from "your
child":-) You can even buy chickens or cows that get right to
these families in dire need!
St.
Jude Children's Hospital
My father was a lifelong musician and played piano in bands with
Danny Thomas (founder of St. Jude and father of Marlo Thomas) among
others during the depression, thirties and early World War II years.
Understandably, this world famous research hospital is close to my
heart:-)
Parenting
with Dignity P
If you are a parent, expecting to be one in the
future, or even believe you've done your parenting job, do yourself
a great favor and check out this fabulous resource! Drew Bledsoe,
his father and family members, my great friend Tom Heatherington and
many more have established an absolutely wonderful foundation
devoted to the betterment of children and families (Mac Bledsoe was
interviewed on ABC's 20/20 this year).
