Will You ARISE & Help Me?
Dear Valued Subscriber,
Another month gone by
in between issues. Where does the time go?:-)
Actually I know where
it went this time. As you hopefully read in the special
mailing I did last week we launched The
3rd Annual Internet Toy Drive where good citizens of the Internet raise
thousands of dollars for the Marines Toys for Tots Foundation for much needed toys
at Christmas time. Our project gets bigger every year and I invite,
no I encourage you, to visit
and consider putting a smile on the face of a needy child this
Christmas.
Now, if you want to
help "fuel" The Internet Toy Drive AND get over $2,136.30
in the best-of-the-best Internet marketing products ever created at
90% discount PLUS get one of my famous traveling
billboards shipped right to your door at the same time, I've
posted my special mailing here in case you missed it.
But don't delay as I've extended the offer but will be removing this
special order form midnight, Thursday, Dec. 4th.
I received many
emails, much to my delight, congratulating me in one way shape or
form for giving up the smoking habit. Just so you know, I remain
tobacco-less and the quitting process this time, as opposed to the other
two times in my life, was painless. Also received were many
questions about the "process" my good friend, Rick Saruna,
used on me to make for such an easy time of it. Well,
better to let him, or at least his
website explain the wonderful things he does for people,
even by phone, who sincerely want to quit smoking, lose weight,
reduce stress & anxiety or improve career or sports
performance.
Just in. I received a
great little booklet in the mail from my good friend, Bob Burg. It's
called The Success Formula, and you can read or listen to it
online free at the new
website they are developing for what is sure to become a very
popular piece of modern wisdom. Great stuff Bob!
Code Amber (you can
see their missing children tickers on most of my
sites) is sponsoring a great event called Code Amber
Community Challenge - 1 Day - 100,000 Children where they aim to
give away 100,000 free DNA Kits on one day, December 13th, 2003. If
you're a parent or grandparent or know some families you'd like to
help protect, click
here.
You might know that I
and Audri Lanford (founder of Internet
Scam Busters) had the extreme pleasure of interviewing the
legendary Jim Rohn just over a year ago for our eBook, Success:
A Spiritual Matter. I managed a great coup around the same
time getting permission to feature ALL his articles in my People
Building People resource. Well, as this is one of Jim's favorite
ezines (see our masthead) I figured it was high time to feature
Jim's powerful advice in ARISE!. With this being the "Season of
Giving", please enjoy and benefit from One of Life's Great Lessons - Learn to be Thankful for What You Already Have.
Now, please kick back
(and if you can't right now, just click on the Print This Page icon
at the top, scoop the pages from your printer and take it to bed
with you:-) and enjoy this issue of ARISE!
As always, my
greatest wishes for your complete success,

Rick Beneteau

One of Life's Great Lessons - Learn to be Thankful for What You Already Have
by Jim Rohn
Is thankfulness a survival skill? Perhaps most of you would respond with, "No, Jim, thankfulness is not key to survival", and I would tend to agree with you. Most of us have probably already solved the necessary problems of survival, gone beyond that and are now working to achieve our desires. But let me give you this key phrase, "Learn to be thankful for what you already have, while you pursue all that you want." I believe one of the greatest and perhaps one of the simplest lessons in life we can learn is to be thankful for what we have already received and accomplished.
Both the years and the experiences have brought me here to where I stand today, but it is the thankfulness that opened the windows of opportunities, of blessings, of unique experiences to flow my way. My gratitude starts with my parents who raised me, gave me an incredible foundation that has lasted me all of these years and continues with the mentors that I've met along the way who absolutely changed and revolutionized my life, my income, my bank account, my future. I am also very thankful for the people, the associations, for the ideas, for the chance to work and labor, and to produce results, all of that has brought me to this place, to this weekend. I'm grateful for it all.
What a unique opportunity each one of you here has, so many of us; representing different countries, nations and cultures, to appreciate the uniqueness of our own experiences that has brought us all here, together, for these three days to learn new skills and sharpen old ones. For the countries we represent; we have freedom and liberty. These are extraordinary times, about eleven years ago the walls came tumbling down, in Germany, and it started a wave of democracy and freedom like the world has never seen before. We as a country and as a world have so much to be thankful for. Always start with thanksgiving; be thankful for what you already have and see the miracles that come from this one simple act.
Now thankfulness is just the beginning; next, you've got to challenge yourself to produce. Produce more ideas than you need for yourself so you can share and give your ideas away. That is called fruitfulness and abundance. Here's what I think fruitfulness and abundance mean - to go to work on producing more than you need for yourself so you can begin blessing others, blessing your nation and blessing your enterprise. Once abundance starts to come, once someone becomes incredibly productive, it's amazing what the numbers turn out to be. But to begin this incredible process of blessing, it often starts with the act of thanksgiving and gratitude, being thankful for what you already have and for what you've already done. Begin the act of thanksgiving today and watch the miracles flow your way.
To Your Success,
Jim Rohn

Can
I Get ARISE Outa You?
with thanks to Tom
Heatherington
Memo from: The North Pole
The recent announcement that Donner and Blitzen have elected to take the early
retirement package has triggered a good deal of concern about whether they will be
replaced, and about other departmental structuring decisions. Streamlining was
appropriate in view of the reality that out North Pole Operation no longer dominates the
season's gift distribution business. Home shopping channels and mail order catalogs have diminished Santa's market share and they could not sit idly by and permit further erosion of the profit picture.
The reindeer downsizing was made possible through the purchase of a late model Japanese sled for our CEO's annual trip. Improved productivity from Dasher and Dancer, who summered at the MIT Sloan Business School, is anticipated and should take up the slack with no discernible loss of service. Reduction in our reindeer staff will also lessen airborne environmental emissions for which our North Pole operations have been cited and received unfavorable press.
I am pleased to inform you that Rudolph's role will not be disturbed. Tradition still counts for something at the North Pole. Management denies, in the strongest possible language, the earlier leak that Rudolph's nose got that way not from the cold, but from substance abuse. Calling Rudolph "a lush who was into the sauce and never did pull his share of the load" was an unfortunate comment, made by one of Santa's helpers and taken out of context at a time of year when he is known to be under executive stress.
As a further restructuring, today's global challenges require our North Pole Operation to continue to look for better, more competitive steps. Effective immediately, the following economy measures are to take place in the "Twelve Days of Christmas" subsidiary:
The partridge will be retained, but the pear tree never turned out to be the cash crop forecasted. It will be replaced by a plastic hanging plant, providing considerable savings in maintenance.
The two turtle doves represent a redundancy that is simply not cost effective. In addition, their romance during working hours could no be condoned. The positions are therefore eliminated.
The three French hens will remain intact. After all, everyone one loves the French.
The four calling birds were replaced by an automated voice mail system, with a call waiting option. An analysis is underway to determine who the birds have been calling, how often, and how long they talked.
The five golden rings have been put on hold by the board of Directors. Maintaining a portfolio based on one commodity could have negative implications for institutional investors. Diversification into other precious metals, as well as a mix of T-bills and high-technology stocks appear to be in order.
The Six geese-a-laying constitutes a luxury which can no longer be afforded. It has long been felt that the production rate of one egg per goose, per day is an example of the decline in productivity. Three geese will be let go, and an upgrading in the selection procedure by personnel will assure management that from now on every goose it gets will be a good one.
The seven swans-a-swimming is obviously a number chosen in better times. The function is primarily decorative. Mechanical swans are on order. The current swans will be retained to learn some new strokes and therefore enhance their out-placement.
As you know, the eight maids-a-milking concept has been under heavy scrutiny by the EEOC. A male/female balance in the work force is being sought. The more militant maids consider this a dead-end job with no upward mobility. Automation of the process may permit the maids to try a-mending, a-mentoring, or a- mulching.
Nine ladies dancing has always been an odd number. This function will be phased out as these individuals grow old and can no longer do the steps.
Ten Lords-a-leaping is overkill. The high cost of Lords plus the expense of international air travel prompted the Compensation Committee to suggest replacing this group with ten out-of-work Congressmen. While leaping ability may be somewhat sacrificed, the savings are significant because we expect an oversupply of unemployed Congressman this year.
Eleven pipers piping and twelve drummers drumming is a simple case of the band getting too big. A substitution with a string quartet, a cutback on new music, and no uniforms will produce savings which will drop right down to the bottom line.
We can expect a substantial cost reduction as there will be a lower requirement for assorted people, fowl, animals and other extraordinary expenditures. Though incomplete, studies indicate that stretching deliveries over twelve days is inefficient. If we can drop-ship in one day, service levels will be improved. Regarding the lawsuit filed by the attorney's association seeking expansion to include the legal profession ('thirteen lawyers-a-suing") action is pending.
Lastly, it is not beyond consideration that deeper cuts may be necessary in the future to stay competitive. Should that happen, the Board will request management to scrutinize the Snow White Division to see if seven dwarfs is the right number.
Happy Holidays?

Poignant
Ponderings
PAINTED WITH A DIFFERENT BRUSH
by Steve Goodier
One man who loved the color yellow had yellow carpet, yellow
furniture, yellow drapes, yellow walls and even yellow appliances in
his yellow kitchen. He slept in a yellow bed with yellow covers and wore yellow pajamas. He got sick. You guessed it ... yellow jaundice.
He called a doctor who came to his apartment building. The manager told him he'd have no trouble finding the right one. "You just go
down the hall and come to a yellow door," he said. "That's the one."
In a few moments the doctor was back. The apartment manager asked, "Were you able to help him?"
The doctor replied, "Help him! I couldn't even FIND him!"
It's not a good idea to blend too closely with your surroundings.
I think of that story when I hear stories like this newspaper account: A Miami mother came to police and spilled out cash and coins
totaling $19.53. A young boy turned in 85 cents. After two days, they
were the only people to return money scooped up from an armored truck
that toppled on an overpass and rained more than half a million dollars onto the street below. Police said that witnesses reported
seeing rush-hour commuters loading money into their cars and driving
off while two Brinks workers lay bleeding. Police had pleaded with residents to return the money, but got nothing but laughter until a
mother and a boy came in.
In a world that seemed to think alike, two people had a different idea. They were not
painted with the same brush as everyone else. "I have children and I needed to set a good example," said the mother of
six, who could have used a little extra cash to supplement her low retail store wage. She chose not to blend in too closely.
Most people talk about values - what we believe to be right and wrong.
But whether or not we realize it, we all LIVE our true values. It is
our actions, more than our words, that will show what we truly believe.
An 11-year-old boy who turned in 85 cents because he felt "it was wrong for me to keep anything," stood out from the crowd. And a mother
who wanted to teach her children to do the right thing set an example
they will never forget. Like Ruth E. Renkel says, "Sometimes the poorest man leaves his children the richest inheritances." If her
children inherit her values, anything else is just money.
Paint them fortunate.

GIVING BACK
You might already support these or similar organizations, but it's the sad truth that we can never really do enough to help
people, especially children. Here is what I support and encourage you to review:
The Internet Toy Drive
Founded by Anne Marie Baugh and myself, and sponsored by Drew Bledsoe (#11, 2001 Super Bowl Champion quarterback), we are
official corporate sponsors of the U.S. Marine's Toys for Tots
program.
My WorldVision Children
This is the special group of children from around the world that I sponsor. WorldVision is a Christian organization that has been
around for decades and almost every penny donated goes directly to these needy children and their families. Nothing beats
receiving a handwritten letter, or even an email now, from "your child":-) You can even buy chickens or cows that get right to
these families in dire need!
St. Jude Children's Hospital
My father was a lifelong musician and played piano in bands with Danny Thomas (founder of St. Jude and father of Marlo Thomas)
among others during the depression, thirties and early World War II years. Understandably, this world famous research hospital is
close to my heart:-)
Parenting with Dignity
P
If you are a parent, expecting to be one in the future, or even believe you've done your parenting job, do yourself a great favor
and check out this fabulous resource! Drew Bledsoe, his father and family members, my great friend Tom Heatherington and many
more have established an absolutely wonderful foundation devoted to the betterment of children and families (Mac Bledsoe was
interviewed on ABC's 20/20 this year).
